Woodhall Capital International Foundation has launched its Global Generations Rising in Purpose initiative in Lagos, designed to empower the Nigerian diaspora and young professionals to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth .
At the GRIP Diaspora Series meeting held in Lagos recently, Woodhall Capital Group President Mrs. Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu explained that the initiative provides a platform for young professionals and diaspora Nigerians to develop their skills, understand their value, and engage responsibly and profitably with Nigeria’s economy .
The launch comes amid Nigeria’s ongoing “Japada” phenomenon, where diaspora Nigerians are increasingly returning home after periods abroad. While “Japa” describes the mass emigration in search of better opportunities, “Japada” represents the countermovement of professionals bringing international experience back to Nigeria.
Hunponu-Wusu emphasized credibility and discipline in governance and business, highlighting Woodhall Capital’s legitimacy through its Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Forum of State Investment Promotion Agencies of Nigeria .
The GRIP initiative is part of Woodhall Capital’s commitment to meaningful social impact, focused on feeding, health and wellbeing, and education across Africa and the United Kingdom . The initiative aims to create a space that replaces uncertainty with clarity, hesitation with information, and distance with trust .
As Nigeria seeks to reverse brain drain and harness diaspora expertise, GRIP represents a structured approach to channeling the skills and resources of Nigerians abroad toward national development while creating sustainable pathways for meaningful engagement.
